Hey guys! My name is Dale Alford. I was born and raised in Baton Rouge, a graduate of Central High School and LSU. Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a teenager and I love a wide diversity of photography genres. To me, photography is a science and an art and combining those two can be very powerful. I'm always open to learning and trying out different ideas in order to not become stale and boring.

Hope to see you, let's have some fun and learn together!

After watching the amazing sunrise on the Summit of Haleakala Nation Park the beauty of the surrounding area revealed itself. The views were breathtaking and I did all I could to capture some of it. The camera used was a Fuji X-H2 using in-camera Provia Jpeg Film Simulation. Lens was the Sigma 18-50mm. The depth of colors and shadows really made this scene look almost unreal. I couldn't wait to pull it up on a larger screen. Maui is a beautiful place and this is only one of the many amazing si

I'm a member of the Louisiana Photographic Society and the theme for the July photo competition was "Abandoned Property". While I was coming back from a sports photography workshop in VA, I found some abandoned business properties along the way. Some construction workers allowed me to take some photos outside but couldn't go inside because of the asbestos work being done. The original mill plant was built in 1916 and expanded in 1925 by the textile company Standard-Coosa-Thatcher. Taken:

A cluster of strong thunderstorms were passing over our subdivision. You could hear the thunder from a good distance but it was the seemingly unending thunder that told me this one would be a good one for some lightning shots. It was too intense to be out there while it was passing over so I waited until it passed to catch the cloud-to-cloud strikes. This one was over my neighbor's house.

Title or Location: September?s Milky Way
Milky Way juxtaposed above the silhouettes of oak, pine and manzanita trees overlooking the foggy Santa Ynez Valley . Located approximately 3,200 feet of elevation on an open grassy field on the side of Figueroa Mountain, Padres Nat?l Park. The streaks of light penetrating through the fog/clouds in the background, are most likely light pollution from the cities of Solvang, Los Olivis and Santa Ynez.
